About this journey
Why combine Shenzhen and Hong Kong?
Few border regions in the world offer such a striking contrast in such a small space. Shenzhen went from a fishing village to a global tech metropolis in under forty years — it is China's fastest city, full of architecture, innovation districts, and street-level energy. Hong Kong carries a very different set of layers: British colonial architecture, the dramatic harbour, world-class food, and a skyline that belongs on a list of the world's great views. Together, they tell a vivid story about modern China.
